Parenting the mighty toddler is a test for many parents. After the sleep-deprived parenting stage of infancy, you start to think that this parenting caper is getting easier now that your child is mobile.
Think again. Your child is about enter a new, exciting, but equally exhausting time commonly known as the toddler stage.
After spending the first twelve months or so of their lives anchored to the one spot and totally dependent on adults to satisfy most of their physical needs they suddenly experience the freedom that mobility brings.
The trouble is their thinking abilities haven’t kept pace with their physical maturation. Cognitive development catches up later, usually after the age of three. Like international airports toddlers are all activity governed by very small control towers.
